Lehto

If you're feeling scared of trying out stranded knitting but would like to get this book, I recommend to start your colorwork experiments with Lehto pullover.

What: Lehto / Own pattern
How: Circular needle 3.75 mm
From: John Arbon Textiles Yarnadelic, 348 g

Lehto was one of the first samples I made for Strands of Joy. It's really simple but super neat. The sweater has a round yoke with sweet leaf colorwork.

The bigger sizes once again have their own chart to make sure the colorwork sits on all bodies the same way. The cuffs also have a few cute leaves on them.

The body is straight with no waist shaping. A very simple sweater indeed. But what makes it so neat are the tubular cast-on and the matching Italian bind-off.

Both make the edges of the knit beatifully round - like they start nowhere and end nowhere. But, if you're not into trying out these special techniques, you can easily substitute them with a longtail cast-on and a regular bind-off.

I myself, love to use special tricks that no-one besides the person wearing the sweater will see. But the one wearing the sweater will feel the difference. I for one am always staring at the beautiful cuffs and hem admiring the Italian bind-off.

You can find all the info on the design below to get started planning for your own Lehto. Some of the photos are by Laine for the book and some we took ourselves a year ago! How time flies!

  1. I am knitting Lethe sweater. I am unclear where the placement of the wrap and turns go. Is the beginning of the round marker at the center of the back? Your guidance is appreciated.
